SerNet provides two branches of Samba packages: Tested and recent. In 'recent' are the latest Samba packages. In 'tested' are packages provided for productive environments. These packages have passed the following tests: - Mount a Samba share into a local filesystem using 'cifsmount' and check the functionality with some read/write tests. - Mount a Windows fileshare into a local filesystem with 'cifsmount'. - Copy a file to a Samba share, download the file from the share and verify the md5 checksum of the two files. - Prove the functionality of the Samba parameter 'host allow' with smbclient and access a server from different hosts. - Test the functionality of the Samba parameter 'allow users' with smbclient using different users. - Prove the functionality of the Samba parameter 'force user' with smbclient by testing the permissions of a new file. - Prove the functionality of the Samba parameter 'hide dot files' with smbclient and check whether the hidden flag is set correctly. - Samba as a member of a NT4 domain and join the domain. - Samba as a member of a Windows 2003 domain. - Samba as a member of a Samba domain. - Check the functionality of setting user specific privileges like 'SeMachineAccountPrivilege' with the net utility. - Test a dfs-proxy setup with Samba.
